POOL CHECKERS
Pool Checkers is very similar to Brazilian checkers. It is played on the same board with the same playing pieces and the same rules for moving the playing pieces (Men) and crowned pieces (Kings), but when there is more than one way for a player to capture, the player may choose which sequence to take. For example if a player simultaneously has a choice to capture 2 opponent's pieces in one sequence or 3 pieces in another sequence, the player may choose to capture the 2 pieces and not necessarily the sequence that will result in the greatest number of captures. In Brazilian Checkers the player must capture the sequence of 3 pieces even if capturing the 2 pieces sequence is more beneficial. It is important to know that just like in our featured game, Russian Checkers, a player MUST make all the captures in that sequence. A player cannot stop capturing somewhere along the sequence. As opposed to Brazilian checkers, the player with the dark playing pieces makes the first move. Pool Checkers is mainly played in the South-Eastern states of the United States. |
